Team Wurtele - Trevor and Heather Wurtele, Pro Triathletes
The Wurtele team is fairly new to the professional triathlon scene, yet they bring a history of competitiveness with them. In 2008 Heather won the Ironman Coeur d'Alene, while still working full time as a scientist with Natural Resources Canada. Trevor, that same year raced an 8:50 in the Ironman Arizona, and took second in the Lifesport Victoria Half Ironman, while working full time as a currency trader. In February 2009, both decided to commit themselves to the sport and their dream of being world class Long Distance triathletes. Selling their home in Victoria, B.C., they bought an RV and traveled to southern California to begin their training full time.
Going pro only 16 months ago, the Wurtele's have an impressive list of finishes. 2009 has brought top ten finishes for both. Heather recently took 5th in the long course at the prestigious Wildflower Triathlon and 3rd at the Ironman Coeur d'Alene, where Trevor placed 6th among the elite men field. Finishing out a successful July, Heather won the Osoyoos Desert Half Ironman, adding yet another win to her record.
