Athletes Lounge Cyclocross Team (a Rolf Prima Grassroots Team) Leads Portland Weekly 'Cross Series
The Athletes Lounge 'Cross Team, a group comprising mostly of triathletes, is leading Portland's Wednesday night cyclocross series, the Blind Date at the Dairy. Held over five evenings in September and October at the historic Alpenrose Dairy (site of the first two Cross Crusade races this year), the Blind Date has become an important training series for cyclists in the greater Portland area. This year Castelli, one of the sponsors, has added a $1000 prize for the series win, along with twelve custom skinsuits for the winning team, making the weekly series more prestigious and competitive!
The ALCT, is in its third year of existence and has established a large lead after just the first two weeks of racing. Its success in the competition comes from its wide range of participants: it has members in almost every category, from beginner men and women to the category A fields in both genders. That democratic nature suits the competition, which awards points to the highest finisher on a team in each of the 13 fields that race each night. The team, though, doesn't just show up—they've been making the podium in almost every race !!
The ALCT has been a Rolf Prima Grassroots Team for two seasons now, and many of its members race on the sweet hand-built in the US, Rolf Prima hoops.
