Hometown: I live in Bend, OR. I grew up in Los Alamos, NM – yup, the town the bomb was built in.
First MTB Race: Mid-Week MTB series - Round Valley, UT
Favorite distance: UCI XC format – 90 min plus a lap
Career highlight: I just became the Fat Bike Pro Woman National Champion, that’s pretty cool!
Race wheels: Rolf's best of course
Nickname: Emminator – this actually makes me blush
Favorite race: 12 hrs of Mesa Verde as a relay with some girlfriends – super fun course and what a party!
Favorite place to train: I’m a recent transplant to central OR so almost every ride takes me to new places: top of a volcano, lost on a logging road or getting a glance at the Pacific; so home is my favorite place to train right now. But Gooseberry Mesa has a special place in my heart.
What I dread about race day: Late start times. It is exhausting containing my energy ALL DAY waiting to race.
What I always wanted to be when I grew up: A cat. I shared this with my kindergarten teacher and she said I couldn’t become a cat. I informed her that my Mom said I could be anything I wanted to be when I grew up. (I do seek out warm sunny spots to nap in.)
If I was a cartoon character I would be: Elastigirl
If I could have lunch with anyone it would be: Da Vinci – I want to ask him exactly what he was thinking when he named the hip socket the acetabulum (Latin translation= vinegar cup)
My hero is: Annie Oakley
Favorite food: Avocados
Strangest thing I've ever eaten: A giant orange grub with a black head in SE Asia – it was rude to refuse, and actually not that bad.
Funniest incident in my life: As if! I’m not telling.
Five things I would need to survive, if left alone on a deserted island: A bike (duhh), Chanel lipstick, a border collie, sunscreen, and an umbrella drink.
My next vacation will be: Camping on the OR coast; I’m hoping to see some whales migrating.
