Skyler Trujillo is off to Cyclocross World Championships after taking 3rd at Cross Nationals
He may be young, but Skyler Trujillo is quickly defining his talent in the Cross scene. Trujillo won a bronze medal this past weekend at the Cyclocross Nationals held in Bend, Oregon on Rolf Prima Cross wheels. With crowds six to seven people deep at times, it seemed almost the whole town of Bend turned out to watch the races in sub-freezing temperatures.
Competing in the Junior Men's 17-18 category, Trujillo took advantage of an early gap, pushing the pace with the leaders. After losing a few seconds in a crash it all came down to a sprint finish, with Trujillo taking third for the day.
With Trujillo's recent placement, he has earned a discretionary nomination to represent the USA Junior Cycling team at UCI Cyclocross World Championships held this January in the Czech Republic. Later this month Trujillo will be attending the Euro Cross Camp in preparation of the coming World Championship held on January 30-31.
