Hunter Kemper takes 2nd in the Oklahoma Boathouse Triathlon

This past Saturday Kempter competed in his first race of the season at the Oklahoma City, Boathouse International Triathlon. The race serves as the 2009 Pan American Championship and features athletes with legitimate chances of competing in the 2012 London, Olympics. Kemper was strong from the start, emerging with a three man lead out of the water. The lead pack grew to seven in the bike leg, but Kemper held his position in second going into the transition for the run. There was a 30 second gap between Kemper and the leader Reed Ellis, which Kemper was able to reduce to just 12 seconds in the final lap. "I felt really good on the swim and the bike said Kemper, adding "I kept to a conservative pace for the first three laps of the run, then punched it hard in the last lap".
