Scott Neyedli takes second at IronMan Australia
This past weekend marked the 25th anniversary of IronMan racing in Australia and with the entry of Opposition Leader Tony Abbott the race was covered with even more media and reporters than usual.
The race took off early with a start time of 6:45am; Scott Neyedli was the second to exit the water and quickly transitioned to the bike set up with his Rolf Prima Carbon TT wheels. Working with a lead group of seven athletes, Neyedli and the lead group was able to put over six-minutes on the field, making it hard for any chase group to gain ground. Going into the run Neyedli was sitting in fourth place and knew he had to fight hard to hang with the leaders. At one point Neyedli was within 20-seconds of Vernay, but Vernay was not giving up the fight and ultimately won the race. Neyedli took second in the end with the third place finisher five-minutes behind him. Pleased with his results Neyedli vowed to attend again next year. "I have a loss for words. I ran with my heart and gave it my best shot," he said.
