Angela Naeth takes third at the Desert Classic Duathlon - Phoenix, Arizona

Entering her first race in over a year because of injuries in 2009, Angela Naeth started her 2010 season with her first Duathlon and a podium finish.

The racing started with a brisk pace, with Naeth covering the first mile of the run in less than five-minutes, hanging with the lead group. Deciding a more moderate pace was better in the long haul, Naeth drifted to the back of the pack after the second mile. With the 3.7-mile run behind her, Naeth transitioned to the bike and began picking the girls off one at a time. Half way through the bike leg, Naeth had pulled herself back into contention and was now sitting in a fourth place position. Transitioning to the final leg of running, Naeth held strong to put herself on the podium. At the end of the day Naeth finished third and was only nine-seconds behind the second place finisher.

Look for Naeth at IronMan Oceanside 70.3 later this month in Oceanside, California.
