Top finishes for Rolf Prima at Ironman Western Australia
Defending champion and Rolf Prima athlete, Kate Bevilaqua along with Rolf Prima athletes Guy Crawford and course record holder Jason Shortis, lined up with over 1,400 athletes this past weekend in Busselton, Western Australia for the 2011 Ironman Western Australia.
In the men’s race Guy Crawford exited the water 4th with a strong swim with Jason Shortis just a few minutes back in a small chase group. Out of T1 and on the bike course, both Shortis and Crawford powered through, keeping the leaders in reach. Pulling off a blistering run of 2:49:58 - the second fastest run of the day - Shortis ran himself into 3rd for a podium finish. Crawford fought it out against fatigue in the end of the run and finished a strong 13th.
After a trying last couple of weeks with her family's house being burned to the ground when a planned burn got out of control, Kate Bevilaqua came to the race prepared to defend. She exited the water 5th and began to push the pace on the bike leg. Bevilaqua held her position against a strong field including recent Ironman Australia champion, Carrie Lester. Fighting a strained glut muscle from an injury the week before, Bevilaqua ran a strong marathon for a 6th place finish.
Kate raced her Rolf Prima TdF58SL Disc combo, Guy chose the Rolf Prima TdF58 with rear disc, and Jason raced his Rolf Prima TdF85 Disc wheel set.
